The ACTION plan has begun:
The following are the resources I will be using:
https://nyc-acuity.mcgraw-hill.com/index.jsp (English Language Arts and Math)
http://165.155.107.202/lms (Math)
http://4kids.org/games/ (Math and Language Arts)
http://www.mrnussbaum.com/ (Science, Social Studies, Math, and English Language Arts)
The steps that I have taken are:
1st: I gathered the websites that will be used by my students to assess their own progress in each subject
2nd: I analyzed the students data to see what skills they need to focus on with the use of these websites
3rd: The student and I will create goals based on the data shown
4th: The students will assess their own progress with use of the websites and their knowledge of their goals
I am always on the look out for new websites so please feel free to share, thank you.
Veronica

ReplyDeleteGreat research you have here. I hope you don't mind, but it is now my turn to swipe some websites from you. We also use McGraw-Hill for ELA. This is a new adoption year for us, so the materials will be new. I hope it will offer some diverse lessons, as the last adoption set that we have, was not too challenging or engaging. I am wondering if you have developed rubrics for your students to assess their own learning? Have you done this with them or on your own?
Thanks as always,
Mrs. C!
Hi Veronica! First, I think you have done a great job at selecting a variety of websites for students to track their progress in a variety of content-areas! I also think you have done a great job at laying out the steps for implementing your GAME plan. I was wondering about your thoughts on the website you selected for science (www.mrnussbaum.com), as I was having trouble using it. I am always looking for sites for students to practice skills, but I could not get the Periodic Table game to work. Did you experience any issues in getting it to work?
ReplyDeleteI do have a website that I like...it provides practice for our Virginia State Assessment for various grade-levels and content-areas. Here is the link: http://education.jlab.org/solquiz/index.html
I was wondering if you have anything like this for your state?
Great post!
Holly
Mrs. C,
ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled you are also using McGraw-Hill, it is so useful and easy to use when planning lessons and how to differentiate instruction. The common way I create rubrics is by having students create the rubrics along with me. This holds them responsible. I hope it helps.

Holly!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited right now because the site you shared it excellent! I love how it targets all subject areas. Our state has sites similar to these but it only targets ELA and Math. Thank you for sharing! Oh, and mrnussbaum is a great site but takes forever to load. This can be an issue when you are sharing an internet connection with the entire school, but it is worth it.
